I do just like the above comment. Never be afraid of telling people when they are being rude. Last time it happen to me I was at Dubai courts helping a friend with some legal papers and this man jumped in front of us and another man. I embarrassed him in front of everyone and I always make sure I use a tone of voice that's not loud enough to be shouting or aggressive but loud enough to be clearly heard by all around.

As much as you want them to be part of your family, the reality is they are your employee. You are responsible for providing fair pay, respect, and proper working conditions. You have to make it clear from the start. Explain what you expect from them and what you will give in exchange. Period.

I totally get their attitude toward their grand children. What I can't understand is why people think that grandparents should be falling over themselves to entertain their grand children. I have nephews and nieces back home and have them shoved in front of me whenever I go back. It's not that I don't care about them but I just don't like the 'forced expectation' that you must think they are the best thing since sliced bread.

Grand parents have already been parents once, do they really have to go through it again!

As for not making a cuppa or dinner, thats just rude.
