About twice a week, someone conveniently parks their vehicle in my designated space at the office building. Ordinarily, I find an alternative space; park and advise the Bldg Management and security. Matter resolves itself by mid-day.
This morning, same thing, except there were no other empty spaces. So i casually double parked behind my now hijacked space and proceeded to inform the Bldg overlords. So, hand in hand with the security gent, we go to find another space. Low and behold Mr.ParkAsIPlease , is in his car, trying to valiantly manoeuvre out. As I pass his car, I politely request him not to repeat the offence unless an emergency, like near death, warrants it (didnt really say the last bit). Audaciously, the gent of Arab descent, tells me, “Even if I park in your place, you shouldn't double park, behind me” Then the convo went thus...
Me: Sorry, i had no other option
Him: Don’t do it again!
Me: Please don’t park in my space, so I won’t have to.
Him: No!, even if i park, you shouldn't do it!
Me: Sorry, I will have to, if you do
Him: Tomorrow I will park, here again, and if you’re man, double park and see what i will do
Me: Clearly as I am a man, i will have no option
Him: See what I’ll do to your car
Me: Ok, i guess we’ll have to wait and see
Then akin to a Roman general alighting from his stallion, he gets out of the car to place the cherry on top of our “civil” discourse – “Its you and your rubbish people who come to this country and make it bad”
Fortunately, and by the power vested upon me by the lords of “sticks and stones” I rarely get frazzled by discriminative abuse, so I left him with “If what’s happened here, makes me and my people rubbish, then I gladly wear it like a badge of honour, coz it definitely beats being you (in not so many words) – On your horse Maximus Jackassus
If there’s any point to this vent it would be “Inconvenience can be 2 way street” and DONT PARK IN MY SPACE!

If WE hadn't been requested to come to this country then HE would still be riding a camel and not worried about being boxed in by a car!

ReplyDeleteYeahh me too. Let us know what the end result is. If i were u and if he parked in my space id call the police. The police normally fine people if they are parked in ur space.
