As a mother of 4 (mad I know but so much fun) I often need to vent about how men clearly must design a lot of day to day "tasks" as, if they were the ones with the kids during these moments, everything would be geared towards an easy life! Yesterday I am in a supermarket with multiple children, using a trolly with a baby seat (the lie back ones) and the toddler in the main bit to confine him while I get some essentials. It was one of those shops that didn't really include anything to eat but ended up being soap powder, shampoos, creams, bath stuff, cans and heavy stuff. Hence, lots of stuff, multiple children and a trolly and I am hit with "mam, these trolleys with the baby seats are not allowed to leave the store" my response... "Ok, how would you like me to get a full trolley of stuff, and multiple children to the car" (I was in a mall by the way so the walk to the car was 15 mins) His response "transfer all your stuff into a normal trolly, carry the baby and make the boy walk" (all while pushing a friggen trolly and navigating children) Hello!!!!! Shall I wear a blindfold too just to make it even more of a fun walk back to the car??!! Needless to say, I just laughed and proceeded to be chased by security telling me "you can't take trolly mam" until I was out of sight and they gave up!

Oh yes. Also had that one before. They made me transfer the shopping to another trolley and take stroller out of trolley and expect me to push both. Needless to say someone had to push the new trolley to my car for me. Furious was not the word!! Arghhhh
ReplyDeleteGood for you "Shopping Mom"!!
ReplyDeleteCasual generalization of all men, charming. I'm so glad we live in a patriarchal society with these kinds of odd views.
ReplyDeleteCasual generalization? Don't think so. It is the male species that make these kind of STUPID rules and regulations. That's why you can't walk and chew gum at the same time...
DeleteI was 9 months pregnant and had bought two massive, gazillion gallon water bottles and was told to take them out of the trolley and carry them...um....what? Shall I give birth right here in your shop?
ReplyDeleteNo! There's just no common sense is there. You poor thing!
DeleteGood for you - I faced the same with a 6 week old and a 2 year old and a trolley full of groceries in a well known Mall - the ''ádvice'' from security was to bring someone to help me next time!!!!!!! Have since changed my grocery store.
