So the landlord wants to increase the rent by 20% after the first year, shock horror, it's Dubai. Regardless of the fight you could put up given the legalities you suck it up and look for a new place to avoid the same fight with the same landlord next year.
You scour Dubizzle, property finder and every property agents websites ad come up with a list of possibilities.
Half the ads are fake, fact.
The agents that do answer will either:
1) not bother to turn up to scheduled viewing.
2) turn up an hour late after numerous "where are you?" Phone calls.
3) maraculously turn your viewing into a group viewing whereby there isn't an opportunity to ask questions.
4) spend the entire viewing in the phone.
5) tell you the community landscaping will be finished in a matter of weeks, come on...
6) tell you the advertised price is actually wrong, property prices are increasing by the day and now its15k more expensive.
7) show you the selling feature, the amazing roof terrace, that turns out to be nothing but a bog standard roof featuring numerous AC units and pipe work.
... And this is only the ones that you can schedule a visit to.
So you find the perfect villa, within budget and rush off to get paperwork signed. You spoke to the agent on the phone and they say they can't hold it for you but if you come to their office with every bit of paper work you own, your bra size and your husbands inside leg measurement then it's yours.
You collect up all the documents required and head off. On arrival at the office you wait half an hour before they tell you you don't have a copy of some obscure document but they'll keep what they have given you just now.
You rush around like a headless chicken chasing the elusive document and back to the agents office. Brilliant, you think.
"I'm sorry, that villa is now unavailable but I do have another villa, exactly the same but 15k more expensive"
Thanks a f$@"$$@ bunch!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteThat's one reason why after 25.5 years in Dubai, (my whole life), I want out!! This used to be my home! Dubai has become invaded by the unmentionables that come in the thosands and make this country unlivable for the people who actually want to be here!! X (
